Kayak

Racers will make a water start in the Pamlico River and paddle 1.5 miles around three buoys and finish back at shore. Racers will then have an approximate 400 yard run on a semi-paved trail to the bike transition area. Shoes are recommended. The race will be split into several heats at 5 minute intervals for men, women, and teams.

Bike

The 15.5 mile out and back course is on paved, flat country roads. The leg begins within Goose Creek State Park and racers will enjoy the country setting and a view of the Pamlico River as you enter the turn around area at Dinah's Landing. Roads will be open to traffic.

Run

The 3.1 mile run is a beautiful loop run through Goose Creek State Park. The first 1.6 miles are on well maintained nature trails and the end of the run follows the park's only paved road. Finish in style, where your fans and cold refreshments will be waiting.

Race Time Cutoff: There will be a cutoff for official race results with the race time limit of 2 hours and 40 minutes. At 2 hours and 40 minutes the official timed finish line will shut down. A time clock will continue running for all participants that finish after the time cutoff. It is hoped that all participants will finish the race in less than 2 hours and 40 minutes from their kayak start time. In 2010, all participants finished under 2:40.

Split timing will be provided by East Carolina Road Racing.   2010 Race photos provided by RMO Event Photography.
